Hong Kong, Sunday (11/17/2019), commemorating Hero’s Day, AKU Indonesia held a national discussion with reform activists, Budiman Sudjatmiko and Secretary General of Innovator 4.0 Indonesia, Teddy Tri.
In the event with the theme “The role of society in tackling radicalism, terrorism, and separatism threats to the unity of the Republic of Indonesia”, the resource person explained how economic development and human resources through innovation and technology are offered as a real solution in dealing with radicalism and terrorism.
Budiman stated that radicalism is not influenced by individual intelligence nor their education level. On the other hand, he concludes that the poor state of the nation’s economy is one of the triggers for individuals to seek a new state system which they consider to be able to provide welfare.
Budiman and Teddy also explained how Indonesian Mingran Workers (PMI) can participate in this by continuing to love the village, investing in the village and building progress from the village. Bring progress and knowledge gained in the country of placement to advance the place of origin.
In addition, Budiman also emphasized the importance of us being able to keep abreast of technological developments in the face of cultural shock and digital literacy, especially the notion of radicalism that is spread effectively, intensively and targeted through the latest technology.
The discussion, which was mediated by Nurul Qoriah, also provided an opportunity for participants who were present to
directly ask the resource person about today’s theme.
Also present were representatives of the Indonesian Consulate General, Erwin Akbar. In his remarks he conveyed an appeal to the audience as well as all Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong to remain vigilant in the midst of the current Hong Kong situation. He also suggested that Indonesian citizens be wiser in using social media and be more careful in disseminating information. In addition, Erwin asked Indonesian citizens to immediately contact the Indonesian Consulate General’s Hotline if there was a problem.
The event which also coincided with the 3rd Anniversary of I’m Indonesia, Michael Cheng as the chief coordinator invited the audience to be able to recall the early history of the nation. What remains full of harmony in the midst of differences, considering that it is a country formed from various tribes, races and religions within the framework of Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
