Located in Causeway Bay, hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) who are members of the Association of Indonesian Muslim Migrants in Hong Kong (GAMMI-HK), on Sunday (22/11) celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW 12 Rabiul Awal 1442 H, Tuesday (24/11). /11/2020).

The event, which carries the theme “Reach for the Love of Allah and the Messenger of Allah, By Being Good Role Models and Caring for One Another”, is in addition to being a gathering place for migrant workers who come from various backgrounds, and is also filled with competitions and other activities while continuing to apply health protocol.

“Usually we do this kind of activity at Victoria Park Grassland, Causeway Bay, but because during this time of a pandemic we have to be more careful and maintain social distancing, that’s why we chose a place under this bridge where there are not too many people. And I have to stay in this place since last night after finishing work at the employer’s house. Because if it is not occupied in the morning, it will be filled with friends who are also looking for a quiet place to do activities or just to rest,” explained Dinda, who is the event committee.

According to Dinda, although many PMIs are having problems finding places to vacation and rest on Sundays, because the government has tightened the ban on gatherings of no more than four people in each group, they will not run out of ways to save costs so that they can carry out their usual activities by keeping pay attention to their health.

“Continue to maintain the relationship between migrant workers in Hong Kong and don’t get tired of continuing to unite so as not to be easily pitted against by any party or anyone, because our struggle is still long enough to emulate Rosul’s struggle to free the oppressed, such as migrant workers who are always discriminated against and exploited by other people. many parties,” explained Rossy Mansyur, the chairman of GAMMI.

According to Rossy, even though there were hundreds of PMI attending the event, his party monitored those who came to maintain an orderly manner in carrying out health protocols, by means that everyone who came must wear a mask, bring hand sanitizer and be required to eat with their own plates and maintain social distance.

“Because we have high consolidation between members, so even though we rarely have face-to-face meetings during the pandemic, we continue to provide briefing and learning through social media Facebook, to meet the needs of friends who need education remotely,” added Rossy.

One of the groups of 8 PMI contestants who brought home a trophy and a certificate of victory admitted that they were very happy and proud, because even though they only practiced briefly using mass media and internet services, they managed to become champions in the dzi’baiyah prayer competition.

“We are very happy, because we learned it suddenly and only started last week. I also enjoy participating in competitions or learning new things to gain additional knowledge. Even though I only have a little time, because most of it is used to work at my employer’s house, I am still enthusiastic about learning and fighting,” explained Nur from the Qur’an Tilawatil Assembly.
