In commemoration of its first anniversary, BPJW (Barisan Supporting Joko Widodo) Hong Kong held a fashion and poetry competition with the theme “modern Kartini, Kartini builds generations” at the top white tent, Causeway Bay, Sunday (28/4/2019).
“Usually, when milad just cuts the cone, it’s normal, because it’s still around Kartini day, then we hold a Kartinian competition with the aim of fostering ties of friendship between PMIs.” said Ayumi, chairman of BPJW Hong Kong, Sunday (28/4/2019).
There are two kinds of competitions, namely the Kartini Fashion competition and the Poetry Reading competition. Participants from various organizations and individuals each pose for a pose, answer questions about Kartini and recite poetry for the poetry reading competition participants to show their abilities in front of the jury.
“There are 25 participants in the Fashion Show, 15 in poetry. We invite PMI friends from various organizations and those who don’t join the organization can join,” Ayumi added.
The Kartini Fashion Competition was won by Ismawati from an individual, the second winner was Sunarsih from SIMAC and the third winner, Killa from EMJI. Meanwhile, in the Poetry Reading competition, the first winner was Killa from EMJI, the second winner was Yuni Azra from KPHK
and the third winner was Musripah from BPJW.
Responding to this activity, Bernard Hutabarat, Chairman of the PDI-P DPLN who was also present to witness the competition, commented that Indonesian female migrant workers are the real women warriors in this era.
“This activity is something that makes us have to remember the memory of RA Kartini, the hero of women’s emancipation as a driving force for fighting power to move forward. They [participants] are female workers, as well as wives and mothers for welfare not only for the family, but also for the wider community for the Indonesian nation and state,” said Bernard, Sunday (28/4/2019).
