Hundreds of migrant domestic workers (PRT) from Indonesia and the Philippines graduated after completing financial education and personal development held by an institution called Enrich at HKE Connect Hall, Central, Sunday (24/3/2019).
Enrich is a charity that promotes economic empowerment for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong since 2007, around sixteen thousand domestic workers have been recorded to have attended Enrich’s classes.
Kartika Dewi Rahayu, one of the graduation participants, said that the class she took helped her to manage her work income
”Learning at Enrich is easy to understand and is the answer to most of the problems of migrant workers, usually we send a lot of money directly to the family and it quickly runs out without clear details, when we intend to open a business we are confused with mediocre funds even though we have worked for decades. years” explained the woman from Surakarta, Indonesia.
Executive Director Enrich Lucinda Pike said that by providing financial management knowledge, migrant domestic workers are expected to be able to apply it to their daily lives so that their finances are more organized. Thus, the life of migrant workers will be more detailed and will slowly increase their standard of living.
Representatives of the Indonesian Consulate General, Consular Junior Consul Sari Widita and Consul General of the Philippines Hon. Antonio Morales congratulated, prayed for 170 graduates to be successful and shared the knowledge gained so that the surrounding environment could also benefit from it and invited those who had not yet studied to study together.
Enrich provides 5 training classes which include classes on managing money wisely, saving and how to choose the right investment to avoid fraud in HK and in the country of origin, how to calculate business capital by considering the pros and cons, self-development to be more confident to speak up and know their rights in HK. Classes are available in Indonesian and Tagalog.
