There is always something that can be done to contribute to the good. Including, addressing the condition of Hong Kong which is being hit by political and social unrest.
This is also what is in the mind and thoughts of Imam Baihaqi. Instead of complaining and grumbling, the General Manager (GM) of Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) invited the taklim assemblies and the Indonesian community in the Land of Concrete to pray together for the return of peace in Hong Kong.
“We as Indonesians who are currently working in Hong Kong want this country to return to normal as before. We hope that each side (the government and the anti-government protesters) can make peace soon. Right now we can only help pray so that the situation will improve,” said Imam Baihaqi.
In particular, the man who has only served as the head of DDHK for only a year also collaborated with the Chairman of the Hong Kong Nahdlatul Ulama (PCINU) Special Branch Management, Kistiawanto to also urge the assemblies of NU branch members to do the same. Through a WhatsApp group containing the chairmen of the Hong Kong NU branch assembly, Kistiawanto made an announcement, responding positively to Imam Baihaqi’s invitation.
“PCINU Hong Kong appeals to all assemblies, let’s pray, by reading surotul-fatihah for the peace and security of Hong Kong’s country,” he wrote, in a group of dozens of chairmen of the taklim assembly in Hong Kong.
Starting the invitation, a joint prayer was held at the Indonesian Taklim Council shelter in Macau (Matim) on Friday (11/15/2019) night. The joint prayer was led by Dai Cordofa DDHK, Ustadz Muliadi. The event was held just hours after at noon around 4,000 Muslims of various ethnicities held a special prayer at the Kowloon Mosque, Tsim Sha Tsui, to plead for the return of peace to Hong Kong.
The joint prayer event was initiated by several Islamic institutions in the Concrete Country, such as The Incorporated Trustees of The Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong, The Islamic Union of Hong Kong, The Chinese Muslim Cultural & Fraternal Association, Hong Kong Chinese Federation, and Hong Kong Muslim Women. Association.
Dozens of Indonesian migrant worker taklim assemblies (PMI) also held a joint prayer, which was carried out throughout Saturday to Friday, November 16-22 2019, followed by PMI, according to their holidays. Imam Baihaqi himself, on Sunday (11/17/2019), attended a joint prayer for the peace and security of Hong Kong in 2 places. Namely, in the Yuen Long Ukhuwan Islamiyah assembly and the Hang Hau Muslim Mother assembly.
