Centro de Convencoes e Entretenimento da Torre de Macau (Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre), or often referred to as Macau Tower is located in Se’, Macau. It has a height of 338m (1,109 ft). This building began construction in 1988 and was completed in 2001 by an Architect named Gordon Moller, opened to the public on December 19, 2001, at a cost of approximately 100 million USD.
This tower is part of the “World Federation of Great Towers”, which apart from being used for observation and entertainment, the Tower is also used for telecommunications and broadcasting facilities.
As an icon of Macau, Macau Tower is open to anyone including many leaders from various countries and public figures who have visited since December 2001. No wonder, this place is deliberately designed for national or international business and for trade events.
Before getting to know what challenges exist in Macau Tower, it’s good to know a little story about AJ Hackett, where he is the initiator of the existence of “Tower Adventure” in Macau Tower.
AJ Hackett
From the ancient Pentecostal island of Vanuatu the concept of Bungy was formed. The existence of young boys still trying their courage and jumping from the 30m high handcrafted structures that were attached was nothing more than vines at their feet.
In the early 1980s AJ Hackett and his friends saw this recording and decided to develop a modern version. After a very extreme trial and experimental jump in 1986, AJ launched Bungy to the world by illegally jumping from the Eiffel Tower. This radical leap was able to bring media attention from around the world to AJ and Bungy’s activities.
AJ Hackett modernized and commercialized Bungy jumping, and has a proven safety record of facilitating over 4 million Bungy jumps with zero/no fatalities. Since the summer of 2002, AJ Hackett has designed several unique challenges for Macau Tower, including “The Guinness World Record Bungy jump” and SkyJump, SkyWalk and Tower Climb. All of these activities have helped bring great fun and excitement to locals and tourists alike, offering them an alternative form of entertainment that Macau has to offer. Adventure seekers from all over the world visit Macau Tower every year and try this extreme challenge.
The company AJ Hackett group has now grown in six different countries, namely; Australia, France, Macau, New Zealand, Russia and Singapore.
The elevator to get to the observation decks only takes 60 seconds. Stunning 360° views can be seen from the Observation Lounge on the 58th floor, visitors can enjoy while enjoying coffee at “Cafe on 4”, while the Adventure Deck is on the 61st floor.

Tower Adventure
° Tower Climb: Macau Tower is the only Tower in the world where the top of the mast can be climbed. This trip takes about 2 hours and is not for the faint hearted.
° SkyJump : SkyJump can only be found in three locations in the world, and this is the only one in Asia. From the edge of a height of 233 meters, the jumper can fly all the way to the landing zone at ground level. The average Sky Jump is controlled for 17 seconds at a speed of 75km/h. Single and Tandem jumps available. There must be written parental consent for children under 18 years of age.
° Sky Walk : this is an opportunity for anyone and everyone to step out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves. It is a great activity to do with friends and family and for people of all ages, including children. Walk on the outer edge of the Macau Tower 233 meters above the city skyline where the aisle is only 1.8 meters wide. Those who can participate are a maximum weight of 140 kg, and only children over three years old are allowed to join the Skywalk.
° Bungy : AJ Hackett Macau Tower Bungy Jump is 233m / 764ft, making this jump the Guinness World Record for the world’s Highest Commercial Bungy Jump. To make this leap from the Macau Tower a reality, a specially designed bungy cable, guide cable and recovery system had to be developed. AJ and his team pioneered the new design and testing of all equipment and thus invented what his organization now calls the 2nd generation bungy cable. This is a spherical cable that is larger at the top than the bottom and allows the jumper’s weight to be spread evenly over the entire length of the cable when jumping from such a height.
“Designing this new bungy cord is a huge step forward for us. Now it will allow us to jump off any building or structure in the world” said Founder AJ Hackett.
The jumper jumps from a platform 233m above the ground and experiences the ultimate free fall experience before decelerating 30 meters off the ground and getting back up. The guide cable system ensures you don’t make contact with the tower and allows bungy jumps to occur in almost any weather condition. Night Bungy is also available from 6pm in winter and 7:30pm in summer.
