The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) revealed a number of modes that are often used by syndicates of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) to ensnare their victims. The mode is in the form of the lure of a high salary and a down payment or down payment, Wednesday (7/4/2021).
“The lure of fantastic salaries abroad has become one of the modus operandi of perpetrators to ensnare their victims,” said the Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (PWNI-BHI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha during a webinar entitled “Trends, Patterns and Mechanisms for Handling TIP ” which was broadcast virtually on Tuesday (6/4/2021).
In addition to the lure of high salaries, the mode that is often used by TIP perpetrators and brokers is to give a down payment or down payment to the victim. At the time of giving the money, usually the victim is still in the village or at his home and has not yet confirmed whether he will go abroad or not.
However, because they were persuaded and the down payment had been given, the victim finally felt bound and would not want to follow what the perpetrators/brokers said.
According to Judha, when he arrives abroad, the victim will not receive or receive anything that has been promised from the beginning by the perpetrator. Meanwhile, at that time the position of the victim was difficult to return to his hometown because he was bound by a down payment. At least the victim will be required to pay a sum of money along with a down payment if they still want to return to their homeland.
With so many cases and modes used by the perpetrators, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the public will understand and be more aware of TIP.
