The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) together with the Public and City Affairs Bureau, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Sports Bureau are collaborating to organize the 2019 Macau Lights Festival, which will take place throughout December, Tuesday (3/12/2019).
The opening ceremony of the event was held on Sunday (1/12) evening at Anim’Arte Nam Van. MGTO launched the first edition of the “Macau Light Festival” held annually in December at various locations on the Macao Peninsula and in the Archipelago in 2015.
The program of events includes projection mapping, light installation, interactive games and a series of other activities. The event aims to attract tourists to the various districts of the city so that visitors appreciate Macau at night, and to learn about local culture and history from the innovative angles shaped by the art of light.
In its fifth year, the 2019 Macau Lights Festival illuminates the northern district of the city for the first time, bringing together four teams from Spain, Portugal, Japan and Shenzhen as well as two local teams to present a series of projection mapping shows, joyfully celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Region. With the theme ‘Macao Light Festival 2019 – Explore the Light’, the show will be staged from 7 to 10 pm from December 1 to 31, in 15 locations in four main districts. The final projection mapping event on 31 December 2019 will start at 9:50 p.m. to 0:10 p.m. midnight on 1 January 2020 at Nautical Center Nam Van Lake, Anim’Arte Nam Van.
