Having previously said that there are paid and unpaid vaccine simulations, President Jokowi through media broadcasts finally announced to make the COVID-19 vaccine free for the entire community. Jokowi’s decision was made after receiving a lot of input from the public and recalculation of state finances.
Quoted from Tempo.com, Jokowi also said that he would be the first Indonesian to be injected with a vaccine to ensure that the vaccine used was safe.
“I also want to reiterate that, later I will be the first recipient, to be vaccinated for the first time. This is to give trust and confidence to the public that the vaccines used are safe,” said Jokowi.
Furthermore, Jokowi also said that he had instructed all levels of the cabinet, ministries/agencies and local governments to prioritize the vaccination program in the 2021 fiscal year.
“I also instruct and instruct the Minister of Finance to prioritize and reallocate from other budgets related to the availability and free vaccinations, so that there is no reason for the public not to get vaccines,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi closed his media broadcast by urging the public to maintain 3M.
“Finally I remind the public to continue to be disciplined in maintaining 3M (Wearing masks, keeping distance and washing hands) for the good of all of us,” concluded Jokowi.
